Cecilia, thank you so much for reading and for taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and even, to challenge some of the perspectives I offered. I hadn’t thought of it from the trauma perspective. Thank you for reminding me of this. I have read and know about this. That some women struggle with being overweight/obese, and this is linked to the trauma they have experienced. Body positivity is an excellent place to start. I hope I emphasized that enough in my article. Maybe I didn’t? I also did try to focus on the fact that beauty should not be dependent on weight. That this is where our culture goes wrong. Anyway, thank you again for offering your thoughts on this. I was hesitant to even post this article because I know that my perspective is limited, it is just one perspective, and I knew my article would likely upset people based on their own different perspectives. Weight/looks/health are touchy, nuanced topics, especially for women in our culture. I wanted to try and be very sensitive to that as well, while also making my point.
