Hi Jason, thank you so much for reading, and for taking the time to remark, with your thoughts. Yes, I used the word choose on purpose, because I believe that we, for the most part, choose who we become. Regardless of our past life, our childhoods, etc. Sure, there are parts of us that are innate. But. We also have a significant degree of choice over the person into whom we grow.

Consider, some people who are victims of horrible trauma go on to become incredible people. Others turn into angry, bitter, emotionally unhealthy people. This will not be a popular opinion, but much of this comes down to choice. Does that person choose to seek out support, help, and healing? Or not.

What do you think?

And yes, I totally agree with you! Different people in our lives being our different parts of us, no question. You made a great point there. For instance, I feel many of us are quite different with our friends than we are with our families.
