This is, of course, not an exhaustive list. The ways in which our culture conditions men to look down on, disparage, and hurt women are countless.

Why is this still happening to a widespread degree? Because we do not yet live in a society that upholds, respects or cares for women. The evidence is everywhere and it’s overwhelming. Sure, we’ve made a few strides. Overall though, it’s not good.

One need only glance at the news, or any form of mass media really, to see this. Advertising, music videos, countless television shows, magazines, plenty of books, you name it. Notice the way women are often spoken to and regarded both in everyday life and as public figures. How they are still paid far less than men. Harassed, assaulted, and then victim-blamed. Not taken seriously, both in the professional and otherwise realms. Seen as less intelligent or less capable than a man.
