I love most of your articles, Gillian, but I find this one to be critical, judgemental, and black and white with regards to the topic of wearing makeup. There was a great article on The Guardian recently about how makeup can also be a source of playfulness for women, in the way we can also play with fashion and clothes, we can do the same with makeup. It's not always about "lying" to men. Sure, with some women it might be about, in a sense, airbrushing themselves to look better. It isn't this way for all women though. And frankly, wearing makeup isn't even always about men in general. Some women enjoy makeup like an artist does when playing on a palette with creating funky, unique, or different looks depending on their mood. It might have nothing to do with men. I also found it...concerning that you say "this is an example of how all women lie to men." Yikes. This is a sweeping, negative statement about women. It isn't a voice that sounds supportive of or kind towards women. It sounds very much the opposite.
