I love most of your articles, Umair, and find them to often have insightful observations and legit points. Consider, though, the sweeping, blanket statements you often make, which of course, are wildly inaccurate (as any blanket statement is). A LOT of Americans care deeply about everything that is happening, are devastated by it, filled with anxiety, sadness, and anger towards those who refuse to act on behalf of all their fellow citizens. There are a lot of Americans who are following guidelines carefully, who do possess much empathy and intelligence, and who are great people that are being screwed over by the large numbers of other Americans who are the opposite. Be careful with your blanket statements :-/ because they can call into question your accuracy as a writer, as well as your ability to think in a nuanced, perceptive, complex way.
In theme with my above remarks, I offer the following counter-argument, Umair: https://brookemeredith.medium.com/americans-are-many-things-some-great-and-some-horrible-d3b242bef7f1?sk=c0e286cadac18c027f9323584e6f7605
